February 22nd, 2010QoS (Quality of Service) is provided in order to ensure your network works well. But the fact is not so useful but certainly it can take up to 20% of your bandwidth. You can try and see the difference when QoS is disabled.
If you use Windows XP Professional, follow these steps to disable QoS:
- Click Start, then Run.
- Type “gpedit.msc” in the field, press Enter.
- In Local Computer Policy, click plus sign in Computer Configuration, then click Administrative Templates.
- Click plus sign in Network and choose QoS Packet Scheduler.
- In the right side box, double-click Limit Reservable Bandwidth.
- In Settings tab, choose Enabled.
- In Bandwidth Limit % box, change the value to 0%. (don’t let the field empty)
- Click OK.
If you use Windows Home Edition, follow these steps:
- Click Start then choose Settings.
- Choose Control Panel, and open Network Connections
- Right click in Local Area Connection and choose Properties.
- In General tab, uncheck the QoS.
